Puppies!

12 Apr

My friend rescued an adorable little puppy over the weekend!

Sleepy Sadie

Isn’t she cute?

So young, and already learning to eat grass...

Kitteh + Plarn = Win?

19 Jan

I like to make Miss Nina’s collars… it’s a great way to use up scrap yarn.  They start off looking awesome, but after about a week they tend to look like this:

frayed edges hurt my soul.

Solution?  PLARN!  WOOO!  (If you want some plarn, check out my tutorial or visit my Etsy shop to order some pre-made!)

does plastic shred as easily as fiber?

oh noes! Nina just watched "The Ring!" Halp!

<whew> looks like she's fine now... she wants to show you something real quick, though... *tee hee*

Anyway, plarn is an awesome upcycling adventure…you should totally try it!  We’ll see how long it lasts before my beautiful little kitten destroys her new collar!  (Any bets?)

In other news, I just watched Nina drag a fork into her secret under-the-bed lair (How did she get a fork?  WHERE did she get a fork?  Has she learned to open drawers already?  Why the heck does my kitty-bitty want a fork?).  I probably should not let her play with a fork, but I’m secretly impressed that she somehow got one from the kitchen all the way to the guest room without me noticing, so I’m going to let it slide.  This time.  })i({

Rabbit Recipe: …er… Kitten Recipe…

30 Nov

In an effort to improve our diet Husband and I have decided to replace at least 50% of our meals with raw food,

or as my daDdy affectionately refers to it, Rabbit Food.  Each Tuesday I’ll share my latest Rabbit Recipe, along with our raw food successes (and failures).

Instead of sharing a people-friendly recipe (oh, hang on.  Nina Simone just got herself stuck between the wall and the bed… brb…)

Okay.  Aren’t kittens fun?

Instead of sharing a people recipe, I’m going to share a few websites I’ve been frequenting lately about raw diets for cats.  Unless you’ve found yourself a killer holistic vet, your kitty’s doctor is probably going to tell you not to feed a raw diet (Nina’s vet told me yesterday that if I fed her a raw diet she would give the entire world Salmonella poisoning and everyone would die.  Subtle).

Direct quote from the vet:  “You know she has to eat bones and organs and stuff, right?  I know they do that in the wild, but she lives inside!”

My reply:  “Yes, I know.  But a kitten eating processed kibble is the equivalent of a person eating at McDonalds, like, EVERY DAY, and that is just uncool.”

What I should have said:  “Well, *what* did all those pet cats eat before 1957 (the year the Ralston Purina company *invented* cat food)?”  And *why* is it better for me to feed my cat feathers and diseased animals than a scrumptious bit of sushi?  Hmm?”

Anyway.  My internal dialogue is much more aggressive than my actual verbal output, I guess.  Here are a few websites for your viewing pleasure:

And because YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT, here’s a short and sweet article about what happens when people eat processed food:

Sushi, anyone?  })i({
