Charlie Brown

Remember Snoopy, my latest custom order on Etsy? Well, he really needed a friend, so I whipped up this little guy (also part of the order):

Don't you just want to give him a squoosh?

He turned out to be about 7 inches tall, and even though his head is a bit smaller than Snoopy’s,

their arms, legs, and bodies are all the exact same size, and frankly I ended up liking his -er- rolly-polly-ness, so I left him that way.

I can haz do something for myself?

7 Aug

I finally made something for myself!

Fraidy Cat tried to claim it. He failed.

Now I can *finally* check something off of my list of Things To Do in 2011!  Yay!

Cute Little Cushion!

I didn’t follow a pattern – I just did sets of 3 FPDC, then 3 BPDCs until my rectangle was big enough, then slip stitched up the sides & added a few little wooden buttons.

Hooray, doing a little something for myself!

In other news, here’s an update of my Things of Stuffness:

– avoid elevators (erm, I did well with this one until, you know, I re-injured my back on the elliptical a few months ago and had to stop with the physical activity.  *sigh*  Spines that are all twisty in inappropriate places are a bummer).

acquire more responsibility   I’m crossing this one off the list; so far this year I’ve upped my private client intake, picked up a case with THIS AWESOME ABA COMPANY (hi, Saundra!), and started writing blog posts for said company.

– learn to knit (I’ve still got time, really I do!)

– Make at least 3 projects for myself (Yay!  One down, two to go!)

– Do at least 3 things I’m currently afraid to do.  (My “things I’m afraid to do” turn out to be a bit too personal for the interwebs, so you’ll just have to trust me when I tell you I’ve done two so far, they were both really scary, I cried both times, and I would do them sooner rather than later next time).  I’ve already decided on what my third thing will be, but don’t rush me – I’ve got until the end of the year, and I feel I’m making excellent progress!  =)

– Go on a vacation with just Husband and myself.  (I’ve shelved this one until next year; as it turns out my entire family decided to rent a house at the Outer Banks in June, and I just really couldn’t pass up a chance to spend a week with my sweet little nephews, my Chibi, and the gang. Going to the oceanbeach depleted our vacation fund for the year, but I think it was a great trade-off).

Now then.  How are your anti-resolutions going?

Sweet Mother of… erm… Babies.

22 Jul

My friend is going to have a baby soon, and since babies tend to like, you know, toys and clothing, I made the following:

the cutest hat in all the land

the cutest bunny lovie in all the land

the cutest baby shoes in all the land

Uhm, so, yes, as usual, I found all of these patterns for FREE. You can find them here:

PIXIE HAT

BUNNY LOVIE (you’ll need a LionBrand login for this one)

BABY SHOES

And as usual, I shunned wrapping paper (SHUN!) and transformed a regular old paper bag into a lovely little gift-giving device with a hole punch and a bit of ribbon:

Congratulations, Brandee & Richard!!!

Well, *someone* had to try on the hat!

Oh yeah, and eggs too.

19 Jul

EGGS.

Not as cool as toast, but still fairly awesome.

You can find the free pattern for these cute little eggywegs here:

Little Fried Egg

And that about does it for Nephew’s Birthday Breakfast.  I think I’ll make him lunch next year…

Happy Birthday, Nephewsula!

Apples

15 Jul

I made my nephew breakfast for his birthday.

See those apples? They’re just evenly increasing circles, folded in half and adorned with little brown “seeds.”

Start with 6 sc in a magic circle (or ch2, then work 6sc into the 2nd ch from hook), and go to town!  You know the drill – sc-inc around, then (sc, sc-inc), then (2sc, sc-inc)… just do the last row with red (or green), embroider yourself some little seeds, and fold that bad boy in half and sew him shut (no need to stuff, but you can if you’d like).

VOILA! Apple slices!

Coffee, anyone?

8 Jul

Too much?  Well, then how about just a bit of espresso?

HERE’S THE FREE PATTERN, brought to you by one Ms. Hannah Kaminsky.  Thanks, Hannah!

88 is a LOT.

3 Jul

Here, my friends, are 88 granny squares all yarned together.

That’s right! My super secrety project was an awesome granny quilt for my friends Dennis and Holly (the ones with the chickens, don’t you know), who are either about to get married or just got married (depending on when you read this post).

Isn’t it happy?

perspective: cell phone + kitten

And because we all know I think wrapping paper is one of the most wasteful things ever:

Congratulations, Dennis and Holly!  I hope you enjoy your 88 awesome granny squares for at least the next 88 years!
