Blame it on the Rain

14 Feb

Once I finished Baby’s Adoraboots I discovered it was physically impossible not to also make him a rain hat.  Because honestly.  What newborn doesn’t need rain gear?

I again used the green & gold hand-dyed yarn from Gnomespun (which is almost gone now… sad).  Look how disgustingly cute this hat is!

Gangsta Mowse can haz rain gearz.

Husband tried on the hat but refused to let me take a picture of him (it’s like he knew it would end up on the interwebs), so you’ll have to settle for Gangsta Mowse’s modeling skillz, yo.

This is some full-on, in your face CUTE, people.  I can’t wait for baby to be born so he can try this stuff on!

The pattern I found was for a one-sized “child’s” hat, but I messed with the yarn size and gauge until I got it to be baby-sized.  I’m going to work one up with my new favorite (cotton/hemp blend) yarn & see how it turns out.  Hopefully you’ll be seeing this awesome hat as one of my new Etsy listings soon!  And in the meanwhile, D’awwwwww… aren’t tiny things cute?

Infinity Scarf

6 Feb

Here’s hoping it’ll actually get cold this winter, because I *finally* made something for myself…

Yup, it’s an infinity scarf in my favorite color and

stitch (the Crazy Stitch, obviously).

Think I’ll get to wear it before the baby makes his debut in April?

it'll surely be winter again some day!

Chainy Hat Has Chains.

A friend of mine saw a version of this hat for sale at Gymboree and, because she is awesome, knew instantly that it had probably been crocheted by a machine (or worse, in a sweatshop), and instead of buying it, commissioned me to make one for her sweet little girl:

It’s really super cute – I LOVE how it turned out, and *hopefully* my friend will send me a picture of her little Bit-Bit wearing it!

I didn’t put it up on my Etsy shop because we’re actually working in trade – Miss Michelle actually has her *own* hand crafted business, Bit-Bit’s Hair Bows, and is going to whip up some awesomely adorable hair bows for me to give my nieces (yay!).  You can check out Miss Michelle’s Facebook page here: Bit Bit’s Hair Bows.  She *promises* she’s going to get an Etsy shop up and running in the future — I’ll keep you posted (and of course I’ll post pics of the bows when I get them)!
