Blame it on the Rain

14 Feb

Once I finished Baby’s Adoraboots I discovered it was physically impossible not to also make him a rain hat.  Because honestly.  What newborn doesn’t need rain gear?

I again used the green & gold hand-dyed yarn from Gnomespun (which is almost gone now… sad).  Look how disgustingly cute this hat is!

Gangsta Mowse can haz rain gearz.

Husband tried on the hat but refused to let me take a picture of him (it’s like he knew it would end up on the interwebs), so you’ll have to settle for Gangsta Mowse’s modeling skillz, yo.

This is some full-on, in your face CUTE, people.  I can’t wait for baby to be born so he can try this stuff on!

The pattern I found was for a one-sized “child’s” hat, but I messed with the yarn size and gauge until I got it to be baby-sized.  I’m going to work one up with my new favorite (cotton/hemp blend) yarn & see how it turns out.  Hopefully you’ll be seeing this awesome hat as one of my new Etsy listings soon!  And in the meanwhile, D’awwwwww… aren’t tiny things cute?

Infinity Scarf

6 Feb

Here’s hoping it’ll actually get cold this winter, because I *finally* made something for myself…

Yup, it’s an infinity scarf in my favorite color and

stitch (the Crazy Stitch, obviously).

Think I’ll get to wear it before the baby makes his debut in April?

it'll surely be winter again some day!

Chainy Hat Has Chains.

26 Sep

A friend of mine saw a version of this hat for sale at Gymboree and, because she is awesome, knew instantly that it had probably been crocheted by a machine (or worse, in a sweatshop), and instead of buying it, commissioned me to make one for her sweet little girl:

It’s really super cute – I LOVE how it turned out, and *hopefully* my friend will send me a picture of her little Bit-Bit wearing it!

I didn’t put it up on my Etsy shop because we’re actually working in trade – Miss Michelle actually has her *own* hand crafted business, Bit-Bit’s Hair Bows, and is going to whip up some awesomely adorable hair bows for me to give my nieces (yay!).  You can check out Miss Michelle’s Facebook page here: Bit Bit’s Hair Bows.  She *promises* she’s going to get an Etsy shop up and running in the future — I’ll keep you posted (and of course I’ll post pics of the bows when I get them)!

Headbands A Go-Go

23 Sep

So I was going to do a craft show this October, and actually made several items in advance, but then discovered a conflict and had to back out.  Boo.

The bad news: I have a small apartment, and it has very little room to store pre-made items.

The good news: You’re about to get some awesome deals at my Etsy shop!

These headbands, usually 3/$20USD, are on sale now, 5/$20! Awesome!

Head on over to my Happy Little Shop today & check out the savings!

I Can Haz Teddy Bear?

19 Sep

So the Chibi called me up and asked me to make a little something for her friend’s boss’s neighbor’s new baby (or something).  As I was all bunnied out, I convinced her that she should let me make teddy bear stuffs for the new baby.  I’m pretty sure Chibi was at the grocery when she called, because she was totally distracted and instantly agreed with my idea!  I didn’t even have to bribe her with Indian food!  Yay!

Here’s how her teddy bear accouterments ended up:

Disgustingly Cute, no?

I used this free pattern from Lion Brand’s website, but added teddy bear ears instead of bunny ears.

As for the hat, I for some reason inevitably fail at knowing how many increases to do to get my hats to be the correct size, so I tried a new technique this time.

This *neeeeeeeds* to be on a baby's head!

Instead of starting at the top of the hat and increasing out of a magic circle, I started with a chain at the bottom of the hat and was therefore able to make it *exactly* the circumference I wanted! Yay! It *seemed* like the hat worked up more quickly, but I’m pretty sure that’s just because I get bored repeating the same row over and over again and I got to do it at the beginning and get it over with!

I'm addicted to the serious, slightly confused look this guy has!

Anyway, VOILA! Another finished order! =)

Good Lord! I Have A Blog!

13 Sep

How do you like that?  A BLOG!  I should probably post some things occasionally; I hear that’s how this whole blogging thing works.  AAAAAnd, since I really failed at posting this summer, I’ve got a ton of cool project stuff to show you, so the posts will be prolific for a while! Yay!

Let’s start with this. It lived its first life as a horrible (HORRIBLE) fake oil painting of a little boy that our neighbors unceremoniously dumped in the trash.  Can you guess what it is now?

Well, friends, I’ll tell you.  It’s a triple threat: part wall-hanging, part earring holder, part AWESOME!

And SOMEONE will be getting it for Christmas (although I’m keeping my owl earrings – they’re too awesome to share).  =)

I made a free standing earring holder too:

No tiny pictures to display? No problem!

I’m not sure you can see the earrings in this shot, but they’re my absolute favorite pair – they’re little olive trees – Husband got them for me when we were on Honeymoon in Spain & Gibraltar, and I wear them *almost* every day.

I found a pattern to make these on Ravelry (here’s the link: http://www.stitchdiva.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=FREE011), but I ended up using my own pattern in the end – it’s the same general idea, just a different stitch.

I may make a few more of these – they’re a really cool way to use up frames that don’t match your decor (or frames that have weird shaped picture slots) and they work up really quickly! Upcycled organizational gifts, hoooooooooo!  =)

Itsy Bitsy Snoopy

24 Aug

I finally finished my teenity tinity Snoopity doll! Hooray!

Snoop, there it is!

You can snag the pattern from My Etsy Shop for a few bucks, or send me a message if you’d like the little guy in finished product form.

The pictures didn’t turn out so great; I blame autofocus. I’ve already given little Snoop here to Brother (Huzzah!  He got his entire Christmas present in under a year!), so I’ll have to remember to take better pictures next time I make one.

I don't know...there's just something about teeny tails that makes me squeeeee!

This whole MySpace picture thing is getting to be a regular thing with my dolls... tee hee!

*Whew!*  2010 Christmas Gifts = DONE.  Now for 2011…
