Some Bunny Loves You!

15 Sep

Remember that Etsy custom order I made a bit ago of Nicholas the Bunny from Richard Scarry’s book?  Well, I really could not live another *second* without creating more little bunnies, so I simplified the pattern a bit and made a few more!

This one went to a baby girl who will be joining us on Earth very shortly (congrats, Eric & Regina!)

And *this one* just happened to decide he wanted an ice cream cone and a set of fingerless gloves & winter headband to match!

Purple Tweed Bunny Man!

I’m not going to show the gloves or headband because, well, someone is getting it for Christmas and part of the fun of presents is the surprise. But just so you know, they totally match Mr. Tweed. =)

Nicholas the Bunny

21 Aug

Did you know you can request a custom item from my Etsy shop?  Claire wanted Nicholas the Bunny, the star of Richard Scarry‘s book, “I am a Bunny.”

I looked at a few pictures of little Sir Nicholas, turned my thinking cap on, and got started.

This is Nicholas's MySpace profile pic - he's such an Emo little guy.

Turns out no two pictures of Nicholas have *quite* the same detail, so I had to use my super-duper decision-making skills (and ask Husband, my mom, Chibi, and, you know, pretty much everyone I’ve seen in the past few days) to decide what to put in and what to leave out.

Adorable, no?

Here’s what the finished product looks like:

I literally cannot STAND the cuteness.

look at his cute little bunny tail! Awwww!

This is Nicholas’s Linked-In profile shot; it’s much more respectable.

Turns out that despite my previous pattern design projects, Mr. Nicholas here finally convinced my darling Chibi that I can actually invent crochet patterns, and she has subsequently asked for a Sailor Moon doll and that magic screwdriver thingy Dr. Who carries around (I’ve never seen the show, so please forgive my ignorance).  Since I finally finished my teeny Snoopy pattern (you’ll be seeing him in the very near future), it looks like I have my next few pattern projects lined up!

EGGS!

29 Apr

Egg ornaments, anyone?

Here’s the pattern, courtesy of my friendly friend (and Easter Brunch hostess with the mostest), Suzanne!

Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook.  –OR–  Work 7 sc in a magic ring. (because I heart magic rings)
Rnd 2: Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next 6 sc – 13 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 3: 2 sc in each sc around – 26 sts at the end of this rnd.
Rnd 4: Sc in next 10 sc, dc in next 2 sc, tr in next sc, 2 tr in next sc, tr in next sc, dc in next 2 sc, sc in next 9 sc, sl st in next sc. Fasten off.
Weave in ends and hang with ribbon.
For the first two Suzanne made, she did the egg shaping middle part (dcs and trs) of round 4 in round 3 instead, then did an sc around. She thinks it looks better with the dcs and trs in the last round. I haven’t tried the pattern yet,but I’m going to trust Suzanne’s awesomeness on this one.
Thanks for the pattern, Suzanne, and… Happy the Week After Easter, everyone!

Ninaberry

14 Apr

Not only does little Nina purr like it’s going out  of style when we feed her carrots,

I can haz carrots?

She’s apparently also really into strawberries, cuz while Husband, some friends and I enjoyed a bottle of buttery, delicious wine the other night,

With a label like that, it HAS to be good!

Little Miss Nina pilfered a strawberry from our snack stash and thoroughly nommed it.

nom nom nom

I’m beginning to think we’ve gone and adopted ourselves a vegetarian kitteh…

...maybe it's a squirrel flavored strawberry?
