Free Pattern Friday: Tiny Beaded Flower Applique

11 Mar

I haven’t gotten much hookery accomplished this week; I’ve been distracted.

delicious distraction!

I did, however, think it fitting to hook a new little bookmark in honor of my newly purchased book (Ohhh, it smells so yummy… I love the smell of books).

Anyway, here’s the tiny flower applique, which if you ch70 and add another flower to the other end, becomes a delightful little bookmark:

Here’s how to make it:

1. Get yourself a bead, a bit of thin thread or yarn, and a “B” hook (2.25mm).

2. BEFORE YOU START CROCHETING, string the bead(s) on your yarn.  If you’re making a bookmark, string two beads.

3. ch3, push a bead up as close to your ch as you can get it, ch 3 more, and sl st to form a ring.

You should now have a chain of…erm…chains around your bead.

4. ch3, 3dc, sl st.  (One Petal).

5. Work four or five more petals around the ring.  If you’re only making an applique, STOP HERE & FO!

6. To make a bookmark, ch70, then repeat steps 3-5 & FO.

VOILA!

I’d love to stay and chat, but I’ve got a hot date with Kvothe this evening.

Happy Hooking!

Cupcakes, A Day Early!

2 Feb

So as it turns out I didn’t finish my custom order yesterday, which means you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see how it turned out.  In the meanwhile, how about a cute little pattern for a cupcake applique?  Yes?  Yes?  Wellllll, okay.

Y.U.M.

I made this little bag for a friend who happens to LOVE cupcakes.  It was her birthday, and I needed something to put her gift, this awesome little necklace in, so I came up with this teeny thing:

the cutest little cupcake bag in all the land!

I didn’t keep track of the pattern for the bag – it’s just some BLO dc’s, really.  BUT THE CUPCAKE, oh, well, the cupcake looked like it was going to take ten minutes and ended up taking me all afternoon.  Those ratios are more difficult than they look, yo (though it may have had something to do with an extreme bout of insomnia on my part).  ANYWAY.  Here’s what to do:

FOR THE FROSTING:

1: ch 8

2: sc across, ch1, turn

3: sc-inc, 6 sc, sc-inc, ch1, turn

4: sc-dec, 6 sc, sc-dec, ch1, turn

5: sc-dec, 4sc, sc-dec, ch1, turn

6: sc-dec, 2sc, sc-dec, FO.

FOR THE CAKE:

1: ch 5

2: turn, ch1, sc across x3, FO.

FOR THE CHERRY:

1: ch5, sl st to form a ring

2: sc however many you can fit to form a circle (6 or 8 ought to do it), FO.

Sew or Liquid Stitch all that jazz together, and… (say it with me now…  VOILA!)  Cupcake appliques for everyone!  Hooray!

Yeah, I use Hello Kitty lip gloss. Wanna make something of it?!?

P.S. Wow, someone really ought to refinish my vanity… that looks just AWFUL…
